W. Uden & Sons Funeral Directors Update – June 2018

Hello Everyone,

Wow, time certainly does fly! Within a blink of an eye we are almost halfway through the year; and quite a year it has been. From the testing times of the snow and the cold, to the building works at our Sidcup Branch that are now almost complete. It has been non stop. However, throughout this time we have never lost sight of our overriding duty – to help and support those grieving families who need our assistance. At the same time we have also welcomed several new members to our team. I’ll start with 16 year old Jason. Jay is an enthusiastic young man who has already shown much maturity and compassion which hopefully indicates he could be with us for a very long time! Another new member is Gary who has joined us on a part time basis and has taken to the profession like a duck to water. I am also delighted to welcome Sarah who has joined us as a funeral arranger and to assist with general administration duties. Sarah is currently working alongside Len at Petts Wood where she has already made a most favourable impression.

With the approach of the summer months many of us are looking forward to our annual holiday and some welcome time away from work. It will be the biggest and most anticipated summer for Chris, our manager at Southampton Way, Camberwell, who will be marrying his fiancé Liz on the 6th July. We wish them both every happiness in their forthcoming marriage. After much deliberation we have decided to be more proactive with social media (Facebook and Instagram) and increase our profile in these areas. As funeral directors we are very conscious that this is a delicate and possibly contentious step to take, but I believe that if it is done properly and in the correct manner it should benefit not only our company and all its branches in London and Kent but provide a forum to the wider public to discuss what, until now, has always been regarded as a taboo subject. I welcome your views on this matter and look forward to your feedback on my future postings. In the meantime, thank you all for your continued support. Whilst I hope you do not have need of our professional services anytime soon, I assure you of our prompt and committed response in every case.

Matthew
